This event brings together Red Cross and Red Crescent leaders from 11 South-East Asia (SEA) National Societies, representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The meeting serves as a platform to share experience and to discuss regional issues of interest to the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement.
The purpose of the meeting is to:
Discuss Movement policy and issues of Red Cross and Red Crescent work among the National Societies, IFRC and ICRC, and agree on appropriate action and follow up.
Take stock of strategic direction progress for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and to develop and implement key actions through regional cooperation and networking among the National Societies, IFRC and ICRC.
Ensure that the regional National Society networks and forums are accountable for the RCRC South-East Asia leaders meeting.
Build stronger relationships and to take advantage of the strength of working together.
Increase performance levels and effectiveness of regional RCRC efforts.
Go beyond networking for better cooperation and coordination.
This year, we look forward to discussing the progress of our work in the region, while also acknowledging the current and future challenges we face in a fast-changing environment. We aim to address our progress and overall strategic direction as part of the larger Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. And we aim to build upon the existing strong regional cooperation, in order to increase the performance and effectiveness of our work.
