IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office participated at the Risk-Informed Development Conference during 27-29 August 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. The theme for the 2018 event was “Using Disaster Risk Information for Resilience.” The event was hosted by the Asian Development Bank, UNESCAP, and UNISDR, among others.

IFRC had the opportunity to present the innovative Forecast-based Financing (FbF) approach/mechanism, including the IFRC Forecast-based Action (FbA) through the Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF), and practical application and evidence from the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) in Asia Pacific that connect risk-informed decision making, early actions to reduce risks and increase investment in FbA and preparedness for response.
